"The Forever Aikido student"
Whether you are a beginner from the first day on the mat to a seasoned instructor, what makes a practitioner of the aikido a forever student? As with anything, we are all on our own personal journey, but there are some basic characteristics that the true forever student hold:
1. Self motivated
2. Open to change, able to adapt
3. Shares ideas
4. Self critical without ego
5. Knows how to embrace challenges and learn from failures.
6. A realization there’s always more to learn regardless of skill level
7. Understand that aikido is a lifelong journey!
8. Etc., etc….
As a good reminder for all of us, when you are on the mat, keep asking yourself, “what makes me the forever aikido student???” .
